Our Favourite Places
Rhossili Bay - The Gower - South Wales
Our first visit to this area of Wales and Wow, just Wow. It is so Beautiful. We took the Motorhome down to the National Trust Car Park at Rhossili bay, loads of space, but some very narrow roads on the way down.
From the Car park there are cliff top walks with stunning views. At certain times you can walk down the cliffe path and cross to the Worms head, this is typically in the morning as crossing is only when the tide goes out, then you have a few hours window to cross and explore and then get back to mainland before the tide comes in. There is a watch keeper cottage where there are people with binoculars who ensure that everyone has cleared the Worms head and crossed back to mainland before the tide comes back in. There have been people stranded on the head and needed rescuing.

A visit to Rhossili Bay National Trust
Why visit the National Trust at Rhossili bay. Rach and I visited The National Trust at Rhossili bay in August 2021 as part of our “Tour of Wales” in our
Here we are at the end of the harbour with St Mary Church up on the cliff tops in the background
Whitby
We stayed on the Whitby Holiday Park campsite, where we had beautiful sea views from the cliff top pitch.
From the Campsite there is cliff top pathway that takes you past Whitby Abbey and down the 199 steps and into Whitby. (Circa 30 minutes walk)
From the Campsite pathway to Whitby, you first come to Whitby Abbey. There is an admission charge to walk round the ruins and well woth a visit and walk round. The abbey is situated at the top of the 199 Steps.
From the top of the 199 Steps you get a lovely view of Whitby Harbour and a nice gentle descent down the steps brings you to the towns shops. Making your way through the many typical seaside shops you will come to the Harbour and along the quay you will get to the lovely Beach.
You can tell this is a fishing harbour as there are many Fish & Chip places, we ate at “The Magpie Cafe” and it was excellent Fish.
There are also guided or self guided tour with audio where you can learn all about the towns history and th towns legend that is Captain Cook.
This is one place that we will be returning to in 2022 and will be doing a full tour a reviews of all that Whitby has to offer.
St Davids - South Wales
Another one of our favourite places is in South Wales. We stayed within a 15 minute walk form Whitesands beach, known for its surfing and a 30 minute walk into St Davids city centre.
The Cathedral is a must see in this pretty little city and is its biggest attraction.
There are beautiful coastal walks from St Davids city centre back to Whitesands Beach with spectacular cliff top views.
Equally from Whitesands, the coastal path to St Davids Head offers great views of the bays from the heights of the cliff coastal path and has set circular routes for differing distances and climbing difficulty to suit all ability of walkers.
From the campsite with clear skies you will get to see beautiful sunsets as the sun drops below the cliff tops.
The view from St Davids Head back over the bay and out to sea is spectacular and was also a great place for us to have our picnic.
